If you live in a more rural area, then you may have quite a ways to travel from your property to a main road. Many houses in rural America, can have driveways that extend for many yards. Many of which are simple dirt roads that may have gravel to reinforce them. But, sometimes this is just simply not enough to help, when the rainy season comes around every year. Now, a simple solution would to be just to pave the driveway and be done with it. Though, it is simple enough, it can cost you a whole lot just to get paved. Using concrete or asphalt is not a cheap method and then you have to worry about it being damage over time. Which can make the investment not worth think about. But, it does not have to be this way. In fact, there are alternative ways to pave your drive way and not completely bankrupt yourself in the process. That method is called permeable pavements. If you are not familiar with what that is I will explain in a minute. Permeable pavements have become a more popular option for many in need of paving. Being relevantly new compared to traditional means, such as concrete or asphalt.
What it is, is a system that uses the natural ground as pavement, by reinforcing it from underneath. How does it do this? By starting off with a plastic sheet, that is comprised of smaller cup like housing units, that hold any loose material that you want. Things like dirt, gravel or even sod. When filled they act as a support system that hold each other up. Giving it far more strength without. Even without the filler, the sheet can hold up most vehicles on its own. So, you can imagine how strong it can become.
As for features, one of the benefits you would receive over other means, is that of stormwater management. Permeable pavers says it in its name, its permeable and allows water to pass through.
Eliminating things like slick surfaces and potholes. It even works with sunlight, that would usually beam done on asphalt and make it blisteringly hot. All of this is avoided with this method.
Now when it comes to the cost, you will find that it can cost at times half of what concrete cost. As well as, takes half the time to install too. Since it allows water and heat to pass through it, you don’t get the damage that comes with them. Making maintenance something to be forgotten.
With permeable pavements, you can have your driveway paved and have it cost less. While also providing benefits that other methods simply could not. It can also be used for multiple other uses. Like walkways or motor pools. Its design allows for flexibility in its use. You don’t have to take my word for it, you can find a few companies that specialize in permeable pavements and read the reviews for yourself.
